A New Beginning: Celebrating the Opening of Arukah Foundation’s First House
Saturday, 11 October 2025, was a truly special day for the Arukah Foundation, the official opening of our very first house. What began as a vision to create a place of hope, healing, and new beginnings has now become a reality, thanks to the incredible support and generosity of our community.
The day was filled with joy and gratitude as friends, sponsors, and community members gathered for a heartwarming bring and braai. Everyone came together not only to share a meal but to make a difference, bringing along items to fill the new house’s pantry as a gesture of love and support.
The official opening ceremony was beautifully led by our directors, Richard de Winnaar, Colan Peceur, and Trudie Blignaut, who shared inspiring words about faith, perseverance, and community spirit. The highlight of the morning was the ribbon-cutting, done by Renaldo Groenewald, CEO of Ladismith Cheese, symbolizing the beginning of a new chapter for the Foundation and the lives it will impact.
We extend a heartfelt thank you to Jandré Human, General Manager at Southern Cape Vineyards, for his generous support and involvement, as well as to Reverend Hendrik Smal, whose words of blessing and encouragement touched everyone present.
The event also served as a warm welcome to our new house parents, Ansie and Abie Rothman, who will play a vital role in creating a loving and stable home for the children entrusted to Arukah’s care. Their compassion and dedication reflect the true spirit of what Arukah stands for, restoration and hope.
The day ended in true South African fashion, with laughter, fellowship, and a shared sense of accomplishment around the braai. Every smile, every prayer, and every act of kindness contributed to making this milestone one to remember.
Looking ahead, the Arukah Foundation remains committed to building more safe homes, empowering families, and nurturing a future filled with opportunity and love.
